Customer Services

All clients arriving at International airports are met by a representative of the company and escorted to their hotels. They are also given briefing before commencement of their safari. After safari they are also met by our staff to get their comments and experience on the safari.

Immigration

Visitors must have a valid visa on arrival but these can also be obtained at points of entry for a certain fee depending on the nationality and country of origin.

Customs

Custom officials normally inspect baggage on arrival and departure. Firearms need special permits that must be obtained in advance.

Currency

There is no restriction on the amount of foreign currency visitors can import. Regulations prohibit the export of local currency.

Medical Advice

There is a risk of malaria in most African countries, so prophylactics should be taken before, during and after departure according to prescriptions and recommendations from your physician. Yellow fever is no longer mandatory unless one has recently traveled to endermic areas. Tetanus, polio, typhoid, meningitis and hepatitis vaccinations are recommended. Visitors requiring special medication should pack sufficient supplies for the duration of the safari and should inform us if there is special handling required when booking their tour. Tap water is not safe to drink, but bottled water is readily available and for mountain climb boiled water is provided.

Medical Insurance

All clients must have health insurance cover from their country of origin but also local Flying Doctors insurance is recommended.

Security

Visitors should take the same care as they would normally take in any destination worldwide. Keep a close watch on handbags, wallets and cameras especially when walking in crowded areas. Avoid walking at night and place valuables in safe deposit boxes in hotels and lodges.
Transportation on safari.

All transportation whilst on safari is in four wheel drive vehicles allowing each client to have window seat.

Transportation by Air

Based on scheduled internal air and private charter serviced by single engine or twin engine aircrafts and includes domestic airport taxes and service charge and will be specified when booking unless advised otherwise.

Accomodation

Game lodges/Hotels and Permanent Tented Camps based on shared occupancy of twin bedded rooms and in most cases bathrooms are en suite. Single rooms are available but cannot be guaranteed.

Booking Conditions

A booking is considerd confirmed upon receiving a 35% deposit as booking fee. 50% should be received 50 days prior arrival and balance two weeks before the commencement of safari unless otherwise agreed with the agent .

Cancellation

In the unfortunate event a booking is cancelled, cancellation fees shall be charged as follows:

Between 50 – 20 days prior commencement 25% of total cost of services will be charged.
Between 19 – 2 days prior commencement – 50% of total cost will be charged.
Within 2 days (48 hrs) prior commencement – 100% of total service cost will be charged and there will be no refund in cases where full payment has been received.

Prices

All prices quoted by African Trails Ltd are in USD and are net to them. All prices are based on rates prevailing at the time of publication and are subject to change without prior notice. If, however full payment is received, the price will remain the same, unless it is subsequently affected by influence or action of government or otherwise beyond the control of African Trails.

Alteration

Supplier reserves the right to alter arrangements or cancel the operation of a schedule should it be necessary for reasons beyond the control of the supplier. It is essential to understand that in Africa, conditions are not always predictable and such occurances as border closure, poor road conditions, bad weather, flight cancellations etc can from time to time cause delays, frustrations and diversions from planned route. We will do our best to minimize inconveniences but cannot accept responsibility for matters that are beyond our control. A client cannot alter or deviate from the program which has been agreed upon with the agent when the tour is in progress. Should a client wish to do so, that will be at the client’s expense and will pay for all extra costs that will result from these alterations, the company will not cover them nor will it refund money to the clients.

Liability

The company and it’s agents act only as agents for passengers in all matters relating to hotel and lodge accommodation, tours, transportation, and shall not be liable for injury, delays, loss or damage in any form. The company’s liability to passengers carried in it’s own vehicles will be governed by the laws of the country in which the tour takes place and no other country. All claims are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the country in which the action arises. The company reserves the right to employ sub contractors for all or part of the services provided. In the event of such right, the terms of this clause will apply. While every care will be taken to ensure the clients safety and comfort during the tour, the company will not be held responsible for loss or damage to baggage.

Complaints

All complaints should be brought to the attention of your guide, driver or local representative while on safari and in writing before departure. Complaints will be addressed accordingly before client leaves the country.

Personal Insurance

It is strongly recommended that all clients be individually insured. The travel insurance should cover personal accident, medical expenses and repatriation, trip cancellation and personal effects. Make sure your insurer is fully aware of the type of travel to be undertaken.

Taxes and Fees

All government taxes, hotel levies and service charges, entry fees to the parks and reserves are included in the price. What is not included are gratuities and all personal expenses as will be specified when buying a safari.
