With
a total area of about 1,000 sq. km. and can be easily reached either
from Mikumi National Park (one hour drive) or from Ruaha National
Park (4 to 5 hours drive). The park has very nice camping sites
and is easily reachable at its conveniently located airstrip. The
major attraction to this park is its biological diverse and unique
forests with plant species found nowhere else in the world.
They range from a tiny African violet to trees reaching thirty meters
in height. Apart from the forest, which acts as a watershed and
having a large number of endemic species both animals and plants,
the park have spectacular mountains scenery, grasslands, rocks,
rivers and waterfalls.
One of the most spectacular sights is the presence of two indigenous
species of primates, the Iringa red colobus monkey and the Sanje
mangabey. Walking safaris to the Sanje waterfalls is one of the
popular activities in this park
